Ethan Smith named
October RA of the Month
Ethan Smith, a 3rd semester Resident Assistant in Chautauqua Hall, has been named RA of the Month for October by Residence Life. Ethan is working towards his degree in English Adolescent Education. Ethan is from West Seneca, NY. Ethan’s other activities on campus include being part of WNYF TV, Writer’s Ring, Sigma Tau Delta (English Honor Society), and the Resident Assistant Advisory Board.
When asked about his favorite thing(s) about Fredonia, Ethan had this to say “I love how small the campus is, it makes me feel like everything matters a little bit more. I also love the nature, specifically the squirrels, woodchucks, and the woodlot on campus. The arts here are also
amazing, writing, everything VANM does, and the live theatrical performances.”
Ethan was nominated by Donna “DG” Good West, Residence Director of Chautauqua Hall. DG’s praise of Ethan included pointing out “Ethan works hard every week to build community in our hall.
Ethan's RA bonus job is to facilitate weekly passive program opportunities for residents to earn House Points for the Chautauqua House Cup. Asked about future goals Ethan said “I would love to get some of my work published in literary magazines, and continue to work on my novel. I look forward to continuing my education and am considering applying for MFA writing programs after I complete my MA in English ed.”
